Summer School

As I sit here typing this I have one last final to take until I'm out for summer. Awesome, right? Well, my posting pace has been slowed a lot by school so maybe now I'll post more, right? Wrong. While I will rededicate myself to posting I'm afraid I signed up for classes during the summer semester. My first two art classes and the only comp sci class they offer that I need. I guess that means my personal art will take a back seat to art school assignments. However, I will try to post those assignments so this blog doesn't hit another dry spell. Here's some of the digital art in my final project for my Multimedia Design 2 class. They're both recent and look, I now have a signature. The first is the Pokemon Parasect from the original 150 and the second is a vulture. Anyways, thanks for reading about my brainsplosion.

School! DUM DUM DUM!

First off, the title is supposed to be that sound that they play to indicate a startling revelation. Second, it's been a freaking month! January is always a busy time for me. Lots of family birthdays including my own and school has started.I'll upload the rest of the pics that I have scanned as penance. I haven't done too many new pretty drawings but I did just finish a sketchbook that has about a half dozen upload-able images. Anyway, sorry for the delay, here's the art. Thank you for reading about my brainsplosion.

Christmas Time Rant

Christmas is quickly approaching. I love Christmas but I hate Christmas time. Everything is busy. I go to my local B&N to sketch and read magazines to which I don't subscribe. I usually stop at a Starbucks on the way even though they have a cafe with Starbucks coffee. Their cafe isn't the best. Anyway, it's now ten times harder to find a table and it's so noisy. I have to lock my crappy-ass car if there is even a trace of something I care about. The lines are much longer if I wanna buy something. Not to mention the roads are filled with crazies that never drive. When it starts snowing everything is worse. I'm a humbug. That was my rant. Here's some digital art as I'm gonna rescan this last sketchbook. They all turned out terribly. The first is from Alien obviously. The second is from the internet I think. The last one is a magic card called Time Warp except that I never drew the wizard. I couldn't get him right and decided to omit him. Thanks for reading about my brainsplosion.

Original Works Ahead

I was recently informed that December is Pokemon profile picture month on Facebook. Obviously unofficial and completely nerdy. I pledged to draw one each day. This pledge led to a breakthrough in my art. After months and months of drawing copies of pictures I find online or in magazines I finally decided to set out to create an image based on reference photos. I gathered up some pictures of mushrooms and crabs and drew my very own version of Parasect. I'll post it later, maybe all 30 days as a single post. From this moment on I'll be trying to create more of these originals. Now on to the sketches. The first is a bug warrior I found online. I think it was a figurine. The second is a Magic card Orzhov Guildmage. What the hell, here's a digital sketch of a shipwreck that I did based off an online pic.Thank you for reading about my brainsplosion.

Slacking and MoMA

I know, I know, I've been slacking. BIG TIME slacking. It's been a week since my last post. I have been sketching and working with my tablet so I'm keeping myself busy. I still sketch in my sketchbook as I like the tactile sensation of it. Also, I can't take my tablet with me to the local cafe. Those trips are practically the only time I get out of the house during the week. The weekend is the only time I spend more than a handful of hours out of the house. This past weekend I went to MoMA. Nothing inspires me more than looking at another artist's work. They had The Starry Night there. They had a Pollock. A huge, room-spanning Monet (Monet is one of my favorites). They had an entire room of Picasso. They had Rothko (another one of my favorites) and Hopper. By the end of the day my feet were killing me. I wore my converse, worst decision ever. My toes are angry with me. Anyway. I'm on my desktop posting this and my latest sketchbook sketches are on my laptop. I guess I'll just have to upload something digital. Thank you for reading about my brainsplosion.
